Music "Golden Trophy" 2008
2nd International Web Concert Hall Competition
New York, USA

Founders and Organizers: The competition is being run by: Shpak International, Inc.
Goals: Creative development, finding of new names, and community recognizing of young musicians

Jury: Highly qualified musicians are asked to participation in the jury of the competition. There will be no chairman of the jury in this competition.

Participants: In this competition, anyone can participate from anywhere in the world, as long as the terms and conditions of this competition are upheld.

Competition Program

The program has to consist of 2-3 diverse compositions, which show the participant in the best light.
The main criteria for judging the participants will be:
Uniqueness of the musical thinking, artistic impression, and mastery of the instrument.

Age Category

Soloists up to 10 years old
Ensembles 5-7 members, up to 16 years old

Soloists up to 11 years old
Ensembles 5-7 members, up to 20 years old

Soloists up to 12 years old
Ensembles 5-7 members, up to 25 years old

Soloists up to 13 years old
Ensembles 5-7 members, without limitations

Soloists up to 14 years old

Soloists up to 15 years old
Ensembles 8-12 members, up to 16 years old

Soloists up to 16 years old
Ensembles 8-12 members, up to 20 years old

Soloists up to 17 years old
Ensembles 8-12 members, up to 25 years old

Soloists up to 18 years old
Ensembles 8-12 members, without limitations

Soloists up to 19 years old

Soloists up to 20 years old
Collective, up to 16 years old, with conductor

Soloists up to 22 years old
Collective, up to 20 years old, with conductor

Musical Genres: The competition is being held for all musical styles and genres
For example: academic, folk, jazz, piazzolla music, mix music, etc…

Specialty: The competition is held for all musical specialties For example: accordion, alt, balalaika, bandoneon, bandura, bass, bayan, cello, chorus, cimbaly, clarinet, domra, flute, guitar, gusli, harpsichord, mandolin, national instruments, oboe, orchestras (symphonic, folk, and others), organ, percussion, piano, saxophone, trumpet, tuba, violin, vocal, and others
Competition of Composers

A participant may send a music composition (an audio or video recording) for the following categories:

Ad libitum, Concert, Polyphony, Sonata, Suite, and Other

Competition Rules
The competition is held only by the video-recordings of the competition programs between May 1 through May 31, 2009.
The grading of the participant will be on the 100 point system.
Participants in different categories, specialties, and genres will be graded and rewarded separately.
The age of the participants shall be based by the date of December 31, 2008. (i.e. On December 31, 2008, the participant should not be older than the age stated on the application. For example, in the category of up to 10 years old, the participant should not be older than 10 on December 31, 2008.)
In ensembles which have an age limitation of up to 16, 20, or 25 years old, participation of older members is not allowed.
In collectives with a conductor, having an age limitation of up to 16, 20, or 25 years old, it is allowed to have older members (but not more than 20% of the total amount of the musical collectives)
After the submission of the application, the organizing committee will group the participants in different sections, according to their categories, instruments, organization, and genres.

Soloists
Can perform with a concert-master
Ensembles
Will be divided into: instrumental, vocal, single, and mixed, instrument ensemble, etc..
Collectives
Will be divided into orchestras and choruses
Orchestras – symphonic, national, woodwind, mixed, etc…
including chamber (approximately 20-30 members)
and large (more than 30-40 members)
Choruses – academic, chamber, national, mixed, etc…
Genres
Will be divided among themselves
Participants who will be representing different genres in one program, have to mark it as "mixed genre"
Specialties
Will be divided among themselves
For example: violin, alto, cello, harp, balalaika, domra, guitar, mandolin, fortepiano, harpsichord, organ, bayan, accordion, bandoneon, national instruments, and other instruments – will be judged separately.
If a participant wishes to participate in the competition under different instrumental categories, in different genres, or in different ensembles and collectives, then they will be counted as separate participants, and must submit all documentation and applications as new participants.

Prizes and rewards of the competition
(in each genre, category, and specialty)
"Golden Trophy" Grand Prize Cup
Award in the amount of $500 USD, diploma and title of winner of the competition shall be awarded to the highest rated participant, with no less than 98 out of 100 points.
"Golden" Diploma
and title of laureate of the competition shall be awarded to the participants who receive at least 95 out of 100 points
"Silver" Diploma
and title of laureate of the competition shall be awarded to the participants who receive at least 90 out of 100 points
"Bronze" Diploma
and title of laureate of the competition shall be awarded to the participants who receive at least 85 out of 100 points
Diploma
and title of special diploma holder shall be awarded to the participants who receive at least 80 out of 100 points
Special Prize
and title of receiver of the special prize of the competition
Diploma
For the preparation of the winners, laureates, special diploma receivers, and award receivers, a special diploma will be awarded to the instructors, concert-masters, leaders, and conductors of the collectives.
At the end of the competition, an official Video-DVD with selected performances might be made.

Guidelines for the video-recordings
Video recordings should be made specifically for this competition in the period from January 1 until December 31 of 2008.
The recordings will be accepted ONLY on digital tape: miniDV, DVCAM, or HDV

ATTENTION: DVD and CD are NOT acceptable!
Each tape must contain only one participant
The recording must start at the beginning of the tape
The recording has to be of good quality (from a studio or public place) – preferably with use of professional audio microphones and professional cameras.
Use of audio dubbing is not allowed
It is necessary to include the name, country, and program of the participant on the tape
The order of the program on the video-recording has to match the order on the application submitted with the recording

Tiles on video are not allowed.

If the participant will not adhere to the guidelines, they will be disqualified, without return of entry fee.
In some cases, the applicant may pay an additional fee (which will be set by the organizing committee), in order for them to correct the application. Those cases are: missing signature on the application, missing or incomplete address, incomplete information in the application, etc…

The quality of the audio portion of the video-recording will affect the score of the participant.

General Rules: The official language of the competition is English.
The original application, video-recording, and all necessary documents have to be sent in one package
The final day to receive all applications and documents shall be March 31, 2009.
Entry fee is $50 for each entry. (This fee includes charges for shipping and one diploma for the applicant)
If the applicant wants additional copies of the diploma (for his teachers, directors/leaders of orchestras and ensembles, accompanists, individuals from an ensemble, etc…) the fee is $10 per copy. The applicant must pay any additional costs (for the copies of the diplomas) initially, along with the $50 entry fee. (For example, if a soloist participates in the competition, and wants an additional diploma for his teacher, he must pay $50 (entry fee) and $10 (for the 2nd copy of the diploma), for a total of $60)
Entry fees shall be sent to NLD, Inc by check, or personally (using Money Order, Western Union, Money Gram), by e-mail to us, to provide the name. If assistance is need, please contact us to arrange your payment
Documents and entry fees are not returnable.
Every participant has to send a copy of the application and a copy of the payment to the e-mail address of the competition.
The names of the members of the jury, winners, laureates, special honor receivers, and receivers of prizes of the competition for the year of 2008, shall be published.
The organizing committee is not responsible for any copyright or authorship questions of the pieces used in the competition.
The committee also reserves the right for displaying anything used in the competition on any media (television, radio, etc), or for any future purpose, without notifying the participant, and without any other payment including royalties.
The results of the competition are final, and are not subject to disputes.
